Dear Parent/Carer,

You will be aware of the severe storms which affected the West Derby area late on Friday afternoon. It has now transpired that our school was struck by lightning which has disabled the fire alarm system in two buildings.

We have been informed this morning by our engineers that the alarms will need replacing and that this will take until tomorrow at the earliest. We therefore have no alternative but to close school for today at least, as the safety of students and staff is paramount.

We will contact you when we have more information. Students will be moved away from the affected buildings whilst we send them home.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I am sure that you will understand that we have no alternative at this time.

We anticipate being open as normal tomorrow but would ask that you monitor our website, Twitterfeed and ParentMail for further updates.

Yours sincerely

A Keen

Headteacher
